Magpul PRS stock reviews

Great AR-15 stock

After a call to Magpul to determine the fit of the stock on my rifle, I installed it on a Ruger Precision Rifle in about 40 minutes, and that included removing the original stock. The instructions are not specific to the Ruger rifle, but patience, common sense, and reading the directions made installation easy. A fantastic improvement over the factory stock and quality of materials and construction is what you would expect from a Magpul product,i.e., excellent. I had trouble adjusting the original and keeping it adjusted, and those problems are now gone. Great rifle accessory. Glad I got it.

Great customer service

Purchased the magpul prs stock for a new AR build. I was impressed with the quality of the product; it appears to be well worth the price. After completing assembly my rifle, the bolt wouldn’t lock back. I traced that down to the bolt holding the stock to the buffer tube is too long. I called Magpul to see if they offered a shorter pin. The customer service agent answered the phone quickly and asked me to describe the bolt, and immediately identified it as the bolt that shipped with the 3rd party buffer tube, it was not from Magpul. He advised that I look through the Magpul box and find the shorter pin, which I did and solved the problem. Great experience all around.

Magpul PRS Stock-Adjustable AR-15/AR-10 Stock

A well-made product with typical Magpul quality. Gen 3 has the same basic design but with a few changes. It is now compatible with either a fixed receiver extension or an adjustable one. The bottom now has M-Lok slots instead of a cover over a Picatinny rail. Also, the butt pad can be angled into different positions, but I doubt many people will use this feature. The main thing is that the cheek piece and the butt pad can be adjusted for each shooter to get a repeatable position for distance and height looking into your scope. Each location is set with a solid click, and the entire piece is reliable and robust. Some people complain about the extra 8 ounces or so of weight compared to the typical adjustable ar-15 stock. Still, the Magpulu PRS is meant for more precision shooting with a scoped rifle, intended for more extended range shooting, and is usually used with a bi-pod or a shooting bag. Also, the little bit of extra weight helps mitigate the recoil on a more massive frame rifle, such as a .308.

Now I know what all the fuss is about

I installed this Magpul stock onto a friend’s DPMS bull barrel 308 rifle. He’s a tall guy (6’7 or so) and needed a longer LOP for comfortable shooting with this rifle. With the simple install of this stock, he was good to go. There was even some LOP adjustment left if he ever needed it. It did add about 10oz to the weight of his rifle, but he only uses it in stationary hunting and target shooting. With that fat bull barrel, it gave the gun a little more balance with the added weight. This gun was too heavy to carry around before, and this stock didn’t help or hurt that. I probably wouldn’t install this on something I was going to carry for more than an hour or so at a time. If you already have a bunch of titanium parts for weight reduction on your rifle, this probably isn’t the stock for you.

Solid piece of equipment!

The first thing that struck me when I picked up the box is… this Magpul Stock is HEAVY. It’s an absolute brick, and if you’re looking to keep your rifle lightweight, look elsewhere. That being said, this stock is exceptionally well made and very solid. The click adjustments are easy to hear and feel. The adjustment wheels are made of metal; I assume aluminum. The stock was straightforward to install and looks great, feels great, fits tight. No movement whatsoever. Of course, the real draw to this stock is the adjustable cheekpiece. With the way my face is made, I can’t get a consistent cheek weld behind any ordinary height AR-15 stock. This stock fixes the issue, bringing my eye up to the scope height, which should yield accurate results.
I’m looking forward to putting some rounds down range soon and collect some useful data
