Magpul CTR Reviews (part 2)

This has to be the best AR-15 Stock

This has to be the best AR-15 Stock I have put on a rifle to date. Solid construction, great color, and works like a champ. I paired it with a DPMS 6-position Mil-spec tube, and it works flawlessly. The only problem is figuring how to keep my beard from getting stuck in it…

The Magpul CTR is a rugged and …

The Magpul CTR is a rugged and durable stock for the AR series rifles. It installs easily and looks good. Although it is expensive, you certainly get a lot of value for the money. The ar-15 stock adjusts easily and locks into position. It doesn’t rattle or fail to stay extended like many of the cheaper collapsible stocks do. I would absolutely recommend this and would buy another if I assemble another AR rifle. Very high quality.

The Magpul CTR fit was perfect. I like how the buttstock has a lever to lock it in place with no movement like standard telescoping stocks. They don’t tell you is that the magpul stock accepts quick detachable swivels. I have always found all the products made by Magpul to be first-rate.

Great AR15 Stock! I …

Great AR15 Stock! I installed one of these on my AR awhile back, and it went right on with no problems. Feels and looks much better than the factory buttstock from S&W, and the plus does not pinch my beard like the factory one. Target acquisition seems to be smoother than with the factory AR stock because I have to make no further adjustments with lining my eye to my Aimpoint once I have thrown the weapon up. Another plus feature of this Magpul stock is that once u set the right length to fit u and how u are carrying the weapon, the slide can be locked into place so that there is no unwanted movement of the stock at the wrong time. Oh, and I should mention that the color looks and matches great with the rest of the Magpul items I have bought in the past year.

Little to no movement…

Little to no movement, using model 1 buffer tube, which may be to blame for any noticeable “wiggle” I might have. The Magpul CTR stock functions like a charm fit well and certainly, adds the maneuverability that I wanted with my 20″ bbl. The MOE stock is definitely a better buy for carbines, but if you might be using the rifle for longer ranges and need a stock that is as stable as an A2, this is it. The CTR is also cheaper than any other collapsible stock that claims the same value and function without movement. Again, for carbines and mids, I would prefer the MOE, half the price of the CTR, but it doesn’t include the position locking tab, which isn’t totally necessary or worth the extra ~$40.

This is top quality …

This is a top-quality collapsible buttstock. The anti-rattle clamp makes the design excellent for a hunting rifle where quiet is good. The rubber recoil pad prevents slipping when you lean your rifle against something. Very nice ar stock! I have this stock on DPMS LR-xxxAP4 models, as well as standard 223 size carbines.

This is the perfect stock …

This is the perfect stock for me. I have put them on the last three rifles I have built. I have tried fixed skeleton stocks, standard A2 style, standard M4 carbine, and while they work, not to the level of comfort of this stock. This stock is rigid, with no movement once locked down.

As with all Magpul …

As with all Magpul equipment, it is everything you need in performance and nothing else. Having owned both the CTR-m and the MOE-m, I would splurge on the CTR just once to put on the rifle you would trust the most. The friction lock creates the sense that your entire lower receiver is one piece a la extremely stable. If you are deciding between this and something else, I will select this. If you already have the MOE, don’t let an already good stock go to waste. Excellent AR Stock.

Just like the majority of …

Just like the majority of the buyers below me, I am VERY satisfied with this stock. Not only does it look great on the rifle, but it works great also! Once adjusted and locked into place, there is no play. I have rated 5 stars because I just can’t think of anything bad to say about this Magpul Stock. I would recommend it to friends.

I purchased this Magpul …

I purchased this Magpul Mil-Spec CTR stock for my current AR-15 build. It was attached to a Larue Tactical lower, and the fit and finish were absolutely perfect. The installation was very easy, with a side note; if you do not know if your buffer tube is mil-spec or commercial, make sure to measure it before ordering this stock. This step could save you a headache in the future. My personal opinion of this CTR is, it is second to none, with extreme quality and attention to detail being the standard. This stock is a little spendy, but you get more than you pay for. Respectfully, JW

I upgraded two Colt Match …

I upgraded two Colt Match Target rifles with SP6940 uppers. In the process, I changed out the A2 stocks with the Tapco Mil-Spec Adjustable butt assembly. The Tapco was okay but had a fair amount of play. I replaced both buttstocks with the CTR. They are great! With the friction lock engaged, there is absolutely no “wiggle.” It is like a “fixed” adjustable stock. I, without hesitation, recommend this Magpul Stock.

This stock isn’t cheap…

This stock isn’t cheap, but it’s very well made. I installed it on my AK with a VLTOR stock adapter, and there’s absolutely no wobble. I was pleased to see that it provides a perfect cheek weld for AK iron sights. It’s also nice that it offers several sling mounting options and the ability to attach a cheek riser securely. To those reviewers saying their CTR rattles, it’s probable that you ordered the wrong size (commercial vs. mil-spec), or that your buffer tube is out of spec.
