Looks good, screws on well. I put it on my Norinco SKS and what a difference it made. It noticeably dampens the recoil and makes the gun overall more enjoyable to shoot. It does add quite a bit of weight, so consider this if you’re thinking of putting it on a bug-out or hiking gun. If you’re not familiar with these, then also be aware that this muzzle brake will deflect a lot of debris back towards the shooter, so wearing eye protection when using it is a must.

I didn’t like the long compensator/grenade launcher that came on my Tantal, so I swapped it for one of these. It threaded right on, and the detent popped into place, just like with the compensator that came with the rifle. It goes on over the extended Tantal barrel with no problems. The finish on the Tapco piece is even almost a perfect match. It’s bigger and heavier than it really needs to be, but is a close copy of some AK-74 brakes, except for the U.S.A. stamp, which is put there to show compliance with the import ban. There is plenty of room for a 7.62mm bullet to get through; it is not an AK-74 specific brake. Tapco seems to be pretty good at making stuff for the AKs.

I went out with a friend, and we both brought our AKMs. Mine is a GP WASR 10, he is a Saiga. We both went through several magazines with the standard slant break, then tried out both guns with the Tapco a 74 muzzle brake. The reduced recoil and muzzle rise were very noticeable, and accuracy was much improved. I can’t recommend this enough, and I don’t see any reason to spend any more than this for a muzzle brake. Do it!

Excellent, heavy grade construction. No filing needed on install. I replaced the original slant muzzle brake, and it dresses up my Romanian AK. It was threaded correctly for my retaining hole. With its heavyweight, it helps reduce muzzle rise.

I recently analyzed the AK74 style muzzle brake on my AK variant to several other brakes I own. I was bench shooting supported at 25 yards, and the Tapco AK-74 Style Muzzle Brake shot the tightest, most accurate groups over the other ones. I also examined shooting rapid strings of fire from the bench and could quickly tell that this brake offers me the best-controlled recoil. I was also fortunate to get this brake to attach to my rifle tight and indexed on the detent pin.

Well built and functional design. Surprisingly one of best quality AK-74 muzzle brake I have used. I did have to lightly file down the base to get it to index flawlessly while clicking in the retaining hole. However, all rifles are a little different. Wish they would add a crush washer of type?

I used to get sand kicked into my face at the beach because my AKM had that standard tiny little angled muzzle device that didn’t do much. All the tough guys and the cool kids had AK-74-style muzzle brakes, and so they got all the dates with the hot chicks. I’d walk into the party with my AKM and they’d all just point and laugh. It was utterly humiliating. And then Mounts Plus comes along and offers a solid, American-made AK-74-style muzzle brake that fits my Maadi AKM, so I spun-up a big ball of courage and ordered it. Once I had it affixed properly, I felt I a whole new man. No more were they going to kick sand in my face! No more would they laugh at my teeny tiny little angle-cut muzzle device and ask if my mother knew where I was. No, this was MY TIME, with MY RULES. I walked in with my newly-upgraded AKM and Chip Bollinger, who usually smirks and trips me as I walk by just looked at me real serious like and fist-bumped me. Julia Bergmann sidles up to me and asks what I’m doing later, and she just sort of traces the profile of my new AK-74-style muzzle brake and goes “Ooooohhhh…” I’m telling you, guys, this muzzle brake is a bona fide CHICK MAGNET! If you don’t have a need for this device, go out and buy an AK-47 or AKM just so you can buy one of these muzzle brakes and be a REAL man, just like me.

first of all this is an AWESOME muzzle brake not only does this item function amazingly and reduce recoil and muzzle rise but it make your ak look sick all around great product and really reduces muzzle flash
