PRI AR15 barrel nut wrench reviews

The Best One ar15 barrel nut wrench

I’ve built several AR rifles. After going through (2) combination barrel nut tools, I finally got smart and purchased this one. Nothing is more frustrating than trying to finish a build by torquing the barrel nut to the “proper” torque, or next hole, only to have a stud shear off of your barrel nut wrench. This one is, by far, hands down the best one that myself or my friends have used!!! It is a very sold chunk of metal with (5) studs, instead of the usual (3) to get a better and more stable hold on the nut. Do not overthink this— do not read any more reviews on it— buy it now, and you’ll be glad that you did!! I will also be purchasing the model for the AR-10’s, wish that I’d done it at the same time.

Start here

Please don’t make the same mistake I did and buy an inexpensive multi-tool. I managed to frustrate myself and mess up two barrel nuts before I purchased this tool. Fits the barrel nut ideally and allows for proper torque and alignment without slippage the first time. Good on stubborn nuts too. Well worth the price.

The best wrench that I have found so far

I bought this tool after breaking the pins on several of the multi-tools. The pins on this tool are firmly attached, and there are enough of them spaced at the right interval so that there is minimal risk of marring the part or tool. I am thinking of ordering another one of these and removing a small section to use it on barrels with pinned front sights, that’s how good it is.

The right tool for the job

This does the job, no fooling around, no slipping, and no cussing needed. Put the wrench to it and go. When you feel the weight of it, you’ll realize this is a real tool made to do a specific job, not some cast/stamped thing from overseas that might or might not do what you need. Only used it once (so far) to put a GI barrel nut on a new barrel, and it did fine. Five pins, so the torque force is better to spread around than the ones with 2 or 3 pins. I was working on a new barrel, so I didn’t have to worry about removing the gas block – I could see that being an aggravation if you’re going to work on an existing barrel. So far, that’s the only downside I can see to this tool.

Works Good, Very Beefy

I bought this to install a yhm free-float AR-15 handguard. I bought it based on price, and I liked that it bit into more teeth than most. It is incredibly beefy, it was a little tight getting on the first time, but nothing major. This thing is built to last.

I own the AR-15 and the …

I own the AR-15 and the other PRI wrench for the LR-308, I also own the tools from dpms and use these more, great AR tool, used on RRA, DPMS, Armalite, Stag, and bushmaster in 6.8spc, 9mm and 5.56 caliber. I have worked with the stock barrel nut and YHM, MI, free float, and standard quad rail barrel nuts. This tool is built to last works torque wrenches and ratchets with no problem. If you are going to smith your AR15 platform, this is the wrench for you.

Perfect AR-15 tool!

This was the perfect wrench for installing the barrel on my upper receiver. The armorers wrench did not slip one bit while I was torquing the nut. I was able to achieve the desired torque with proper gas tube alignment within just a few minutes. I recommend this wrench to everyone who plans on installing and removing barrels.

Built for a Lifetime of Service

This wrench works seamlessly with both YHM and T series Midwest Industries free float barrel nuts. I have used it for ten personal builds thus far, it works. This is a quality tool that will outlive the original owner. I use this with a 24″ 1/2″ drive breaker bar. GORGEOUS machine…can’t say enough positive about it!

MUST HAVE item for your bench!

I bought this to install a free-float AR-15 handguard on my Bravo AR. I don’t think one of the “cheap” multi-tools would have gotten the original barrel nut off. Bravo makes sure their rifles are assembled correctly. All the complaints that I read have been addressed because this tool is very well made and the workmanship is first class. Trust me, you will not break this, nor will you ever have to buy another one.

Best AR tool ever

This tool is by far the best made out there. For a new build or a build where the gas block is removed, this tool will take care of business. The tolerances are so close; I needed to emery cloth the paint off the pins. Once that was done, this tool fit perfectly with no slip. I know if I ever have a tough barrel nut to remove, this tool will remove it. In my opinion, it is so well built; it will last forever. I am not a big fan of those multi-tools. You pay extra for things you don’t use or will never need, and they don’t seem to hold up very well. You need this tool in your kit.
