Streamlight TLR-1 Reviews
The Streamlight TLR-1 is a superb light …
The Streamlight TLR-1 is a superb light and a great all-around value. Incredibly bright, easy to mount, weighs nothing, durable as heck. Currently, I have this mounted on my Glock 19. Plan on mounting this on a Mossberg 590 once I get one. I am considering buying another for the value.
I just installed this …
I just installed this Streamlight TLR-1 light on my RRA 16″ AR. This light is compact, lightweight, and it’s very bright, which is what I was looking for in a tactical light for the AR platform. It fit perfectly on the underside of my quad rail directly in front of my grip-pod. The switch is very user-friendly.
I normally don’t comment …
I normally don’t comment on product pages, but I have to on this Streamlight TLR-1. I was very impressed with the build quality and the ease of installation/de-installation with the low profile thumb screw. What really blew me away though was the luminosity. I own a few acres, and I was checking out some sounds on my property late the other night. When I turned the light on, I expected only to be able to see ~30 yards in front of me. I did not expect to see across my entire property in such dark conditions. I could see clear details from 125+ yards away. That was simply impressive. I have bought two more because of this. Couple that with MSP great/speedy service, and I can safely say this is one of the best purchases I have made in a long time.
It’s been a year since my first review, and since installing this on my AR15 and this light is still working great. I like it so much that I bought a second one for my MAK90 and a third for my son as a Christmas present. Plus, I bought two handheld versions as well. Best lights I’ve ever owned. I threw away all my other flashlights. I believe at 300 lumens; it’s a perfect balance between powerful brightness and battery longevity.
Great Weapon Light
I’ve always been skeptical about the usefulness of rail-mounted lights on handguns and other firearms. I recently bought this Streamlight TLR-1 to use on my Glock 20 10mm and Stag AR-15 while hog hunting at night. Now I think rail-mounted lights are indispensable! The TLR-1 mounts securely and is rugged and very bright. I killed a large running boar at night, using the light mounted on my Glock 20. Battery life has been what is specified. The TLR-1 is plenty bright for most uses. I thought I might need the even brighter HL version, but the TLR-1 is plenty bright, in my opinion, for defense use and hunting. Buy with confidence. I’m buying another.
It Works
I use this light on my Glock 21. It has never fallen off during shooting. It doesn’t flicker or struggle after taking all of the shock of .45acp rounds all the time. It secures very tightly with the use of a quarter to tighten it down to the frame’s rail. The switch is in an ideal place and sits flush with my Glock trigger guard. I consider the shape/brightness of the light to be ideal for use inside the average household. I have no plans to switch this light with anything else.
Exceptional Weapon Light!
Awesome Weapon Light It is mounted on my Glock 19. The controls on it are excellent, and the light is very bright. Mounting it and removing it is simple and does not require any tools. It is held very solid on the handgun, and there is no wobble. I would recommend it to everyone, and it is much cheaper than a Surefire. I believe in Streamlight products. As always, MSP provides exceptional service and timely delivery. A very positive experience all around.
Nice construction
I have my TRL-1 attached to my HK USP .45 (mounted on GG&G Rail as the HK rail system is – unfortunately – unique and proprietary). The light fits snuggly, and the beam seems to be centered exactly at my Aimpoint, which is obviously ideal. It is easily flipped to the permanent ON or OFF position with your right index finger (if you are a righty like me), making it possible for you to keep your left hand free for other things like opening doors, etc. in self-defense situations. The light is so bright that even though 100 rounds of ammo will “fog up” the lense when you look at it, it is hard to tell downrange on the light beam. I tried mounting the TRL-1 right out of the box onto wife’s Springfield XD .40 sub-compact without issues(no special parts needed), and my only two gripes are that: 1)The light protrudes beyond the muscle by more than 1 inch making the firearm a little awkward to handle. 2)The “stop-bar” designed to hold the light in place in the rail is too far forward on the light for the sub-compact XD, which might affect its performance/steadiness when firing the weapon – I have not tested this, however. I think I will find a more compact light for the DX for that reason. Overall I am very happy with this light and would be recommended to anyone looking for a good quality mounted light for a firearm that is not sub-compact.
great pistol light
The price is low enough not to break the bank. It mounts and dismounts very quick and easy, and is bright enough that the shooter can see clearly much further than you would shoot a pistol. It can be mounted to the AR, but I used mine on a Glock 19 and Glock 21sf. Works well in conjunction with Glock night sights.
Excellent full-size weapon light
I put this on my new Ruger American pistol rail, and it sits perfectly for me to activate it with my support hand without having to release my grip. The light fills a good-sized room, and it is very bright. I also like that you can use the momentary on or steady on activation by just rocking the switch the other way. Extremely well-designed weapon light.
Terrific Tactical Light
I have a Streamlight TLR-3 light for my M&P .40, and I was so impressed by it that I purchased the TLR-1 for my Mossberg shotgun setup with Magpul furniture. (The TLR-1 fits my M&P as well) The light is bright and powerful. Would probably stun an intruder or light a path for a good distance. The case is sturdy with a strong gasketed hatch for a battery cover. Lightweight and resilient, it will work on long guns or pistols. Easy to attach and lockdown, even with gloves.
