Tapco AK stock review

Bought this for my girlfriends AK variant, and it seems to be good quality! Minimal rattle, positive lock-up in all positions, sturdy and lightweight. I see no reason to spend any more money on the adjustable buttstock.

I got this Tapco AK stock for my Romanian WASR-10 AK-47, and it went on in about five minutes or less. The only problem was trying to take off my military-style stock. The results of ease of installation may depend on the AK-47 type.

Ordered for my WASR-10/63, the wood stock came right off; this, however, took a while to get on how I wanted it. For the price, it is a good stock, but as other reviews say, I suggest using the original screws and a bigger drill bit, no way the ones Tapco sends will hold for very long. I drilled two holes, and it fit pretty good, but I still have some grinding/sanding to do on the stock to get it to fit without a 1/8-1/4 in gap…also I want the stock to go straight instead of that slight down angle some AK stocks have…if you are looking for a straight stock, this will take a little work, if you don’t care, this is your AK stock, another option is to get an M4 stock and a stock adapter.

A good stock and I’m very pleased with it. My friends and I shoot a lot, and it seems to have a position for everyone for a good time! Owned for about five months now… I never had a problem. Thank you, Tapco 🙂

Standard shipping was great. Whenthe Tapco AK stock came time to drill the holes, the drill bit was a little warped, creating a challenge. The screws they provided did not fit quite well. Instead, I used a bigger drill bit and used the original screws, which gave it greater stability. However, I have seen better directions on a pop tart container. They say use screws provided but give you two different size screws without specifying which size you are using. Both sizes they provide create a lot of free play with the sling attachment. Other than that, the product itself is great with good quality.

Picked this up to replace the wood stock on my WASR 10-63. At first, the Tapco AK stock seemed to be an OK stock until I started doing mag dumps. Any rapid fire would cause the stock to collapse to its shortest position, which isn’t even warsaw length. Also, it’s uncomfortable to shoot and has no butt pad.

Installed on my NoDak Spud NDS-3 receiver. Solid fit and provides the additional Length of Pull that I need. Installed in minutes. Not as solid as an aluminum tube and mounting block, but very good for what it is and what it costs. Would purchase again- recognize the limitations.

Got this for my AK-74 War-3. Stock fit well, but with a couple of issues. Where the tang comes out on my ak and the stock properly fitted, the is a quarter-inch gap between the tang for the top screw and the actual stock. Repaired it with some scrap polystyrene, a Dremel, and a longer screw. The bit enclosed is a touch too small for pilot holes. Overall I do like the fit and finish. I just need to note the shim issue.

This is a nice stock once installed. It took some work to get it to mate up perfectly with the receiver, though. I would still buy it again. Looks great and feels solid. And the AK now feels great when aiming. I can extend my arm properly, and it drops the bottom corner of the butt about an inch and a half.

I installed this T6 stock on a stamped receiver Norinco MAK-90. I am getting it to fit properly required a bit of fidgeting with a Dremel type of tool, a sanding block (homemade), and a sharp razor knife. For me, the fitting work wasn’t all that difficult; however, that doesn’t mean that someone else will be able to do it as easily. I would recommend that Tapco pull one out every once in a while and install it as part of their quality control. Otherwise, the T6 stock adjustments function fine. The sling attachment loop can be installed on either side of the stock – a nice option for lefties. I’ll update this review after putting a few thousand rounds down the pipe.

A solid product, and it looks good. It was a loose fit at first, but very easy to add material and tighten up. It does require a drill, but the drill bit comes with it, so it pretty fools proof. If a slow devil dog like myself can install in a few minutes, a chimp could do it!

This Tapco AK stock is easy to install. The adjustable length of pull makes it suitable for any shooter. Looks great on my AK. I only gave it four stars due to the lack of padding at the end of the stock. Overall, the performance and looks make up for it.
