Among the wide variety of components that Tapco continues to churn out, the latest one to have captured the eyes of gun enthusiasts is the Tapco Tactical Stock Set for the Ruger 10/22 Takedown. This new product is sure to become a hit as it is one of the most adaptable and handy configurations of the most admired rimfire that we have seen in recent times.
Takedown – The history
The 10/22 has had a long and extensive history having seen over half a century of production. Its elongated history has resulted in the production of numerous replications and variants and the Takedown is one such. To aid those, who make use of suppressors, Ruger enhanced and strengthened the Takedown with the inclusion of a threaded barrel, making it their ideal partner.
Tapco’s enhancement
There were quite a number of drawbacks in Ruger’s version that came out a couple of years ago. Though it was great in its own way and time, there were few glitches that needed attention. For instance, the stock itself was a very basic one and though the functional polymer set was quite solid, it did not offer any scope for adjustments to accommodate various lengths of pull. Since the rifle is so apt for shooters who are young and small, this issue needed to be addressed. Also upgrading or mounting accessories in the rifle was a tedious task and it was almost impossible to add anything more than a sling to the rifle.
Tapco seems to have worked on these weaknesses and has come up with an augmented adaptation that takes Ruger’s version up a notch. Tapco’s Stock set (does not include the suppressor) comes with a pistol grip and AR style stock which is adjustable and a Picatinny rail to mount scopes, though there might be variance in the fore-end mileage.
As with other Tapco products, the Takedown Stock Set is also well within the affordable range with a price tag of about $119.
