AP Custom introduces Rhino Series Handguards, Bolt Carrier Group and Trigger Group
Shooting sports enthusiasts have something exciting to look forward to. AP Custom has announced the release of their innovative Rhino series of lightweight handguards, Bolt Carrier group and trigger group as a part of their new product line-up for 2014.
The Missouri based manufacturer is already well known for their carbon-fiber AR-15 handguards, which are not only lightweight and durable but also come in Standard and Tactical configurations based on user requirements. It is common knowledge that most carbon-fiber handguards compromise on rail options limiting the top sight/optic rail in many variants but that is not the case with AP Custom products. Their Tactical model handguards offers a full length Picatinny top rail while users seeking a more conventional handguard can always opt for the Standard model which does not have a top rail. The Rhino Series handguards retain the best features of the Lightweight handguards while improving upon their design to provide the user with more functionality. They come in Carbon fiber and aluminium versions and in Tactical and Standard models which are compatible with both .223 and .308 caliber cartridges. The Rhinos are lightweight, durable and resistant to overheating over long firing durations, much like its predecessors but in addition they utilize a new Key-mod rail mounting system. Key-mod rails are preferred over open slot rail systems due to their sturdy construction and versatile design which allow for easy reconfiguration of handguard accessories of the AR weapon platform. Installation is simple and does not require any epoxy or proprietary tools.
Another addition from AP Custom is the Rhino series bolt carrier group. Available in both full mass and low mass, they have been precision machined from premium 8620 steel then coated with nickel-boron for improved durability. They fit most mil-spec AR15/M4 rifles and are available for both .223 and .308 calibers. Bundled with bolt, firing pin, and carrier key they come with a lifetime guarantee from AP Custom.
The Rhino series trigger group are wire EDM cut from hardened tool steel and the nickel-boron finish adds to improve durability. This straight drop-in trigger includes chrome silicon springs and anti-walk pins and provides a clean 3 to 3.5 pound pull weight on most receivers.
